We currently ship within the United States only — Canada support is in progress. We currently don't ship to California — state law restricts the sale of fur products there.

Sell where fur is welcome

Etsy's fur ban took effect on August 11, 2026. Ethically Fur is a marketplace built for fur, pelts, taxidermy, leather and trapping supplies. Listing is free — you pay only when something sells.

How it works

Three steps from sign-up to your first sale. These are the real screens, filled in with an example shop.

  1. Step 1

    Open your shop

Pick a shop name, write a few lines about what you sell, and add your return address and return policy. Then connect Stripe so you can be paid. You can sell as an individual — you don't need a business.

The shop details form: shop name, about your shop, state, and social links
  2. Step 2

    List an item

Add photos, pick a category, and answer the questions fur buyers ask: species, condition, how it was taken and where. The listing shows your answers, and the form fills in the fur's official FTC name for you. Listing is free.

The listing form's About this item section: item type, species with its FTC label name, condition, source, and origin
  3. Step 3

    Ship it and get paid

Orders show up in your seller dashboard. Mark each one shipped with its tracking number. When an order's funds are released, Stripe pays them out to your bank account. We calculate, collect and remit the sales tax.

Questions sellers ask first

Is it really free to list?

Yes. Posting a listing costs nothing, and it stays free for as long as it's up. The $0.20 listing fee is charged only when an item sells.

What can I sell here?

Fur pelts and finished fur, taxidermy, skulls and bones, leather goods and craft materials, fly tying materials, and trapping, fishing and hunting supplies. Not allowed: CITES Appendix I species, animals listed under the US Endangered Species Act, chinchilla, pangolin and crocodilian products, marine mammals, dog and cat fur, and birds. You confirm this each time you publish. See also our Acceptable Use Policy.

Do I need a business or an LLC?

No. Individuals can sell with a personal Stripe account. You'll need your name, address and bank details to receive payouts.

How and when do I get paid?

Through Stripe Connect, to your bank account, once each order's funds are released. The timing is in the Seller Payout Terms in our Terms of Service, and every order shows its own release date in your dashboard.

Who handles sales tax?

We do. As the marketplace facilitator we calculate, collect and remit sales tax on each order. The $0.50 per-order compliance fee covers it.

Where can I ship?

Anywhere in the United States except California, where state law restricts the sale of fur products. Shops based in California can list taxidermy only.

Can I set my own return policy?

Yes. Your shop has one return policy — whether you accept returns, the window, who pays return shipping, and any restocking fee — and you can mark individual listings final sale. Buyers see it before they check out.

Do I need a license to sell?

Licenses, tags, seasons and transport rules are set by your state, and following them is up to you. We don't issue or check licenses.
